Common fixes
VS Code extension answers.
luca: command not found in VS Code
The extension cannot find the luca binary. Two fixes:
- Put
lucaon yourPATH(the installer does this; see install guide), restart VS Code, and run again, or - Set the
luca.cliPathsetting to the absolute path of the binary (Settings → search “Luca Code”, or add"luca.cliPath": "/Users/you/.cargo/bin/luca"in user settings JSON).
Extension shows no highlighting or missing commands
Confirm the file ends in .lucc and VS Code shows “Luca Code” in the language picker. Reinstall the packaged file if needed, and confirm the extension is enabled for your workspace. Details in the VS Code guide.
Run button does nothing
The Luca: Run Luca File command saves and runs the file. By default it runs in the integrated terminal (a shared “Luca” terminal), so output appears where you already look — and programs using ask can read your typing. Set luca.runInTerminal to off to run in the Output panel on the Luca Code channel instead, which turns Error at line:column: and Warning at line:column: output into inline diagnostics in the editor.
Snippets not appearing
Type try, error, raise, func, if, for, while, ask, import, or print and press Tab to insert snippets.
Still stuck
Re-install the extension or restart VS Code. Keep the exact failing command and the full output when asking for help.
